Job Description:
We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced UNESCO Expert to join our team. As a UNESCO Expert, you will be responsible for providing in-depth expertise and knowledge about the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and its programs, initiatives, and goals. You will work closely with our organization and external partners to promote and support UNESCO's mission of building peace, eradicating poverty, and promoting sustainable development through education, science, and culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the go-to person for all matters related to UNESCO, including its history, structure, mandate, and programs.
- Stay updated on UNESCO's latest developments, policies, and initiatives and provide analysis and insights to our organization.
- Collaborate with our team to develop strategies and plans to align our work with UNESCO's priorities and goals.
- Provide guidance and support to our organization on how to effectively engage with UNESCO and leverage its resources.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including UNESCO officials, member states, and partner organizations.
- Represent our organization at UNESCO events, conferences, and meetings.
- Conduct research and analysis on key issues and areas of interest related to UNESCO's work.
- Develop and deliver presentations, reports, and other materials to raise awareness and educate others about UNESCO's mission and impact.
- Identify potential funding opportunities and support our organization in preparing proposals and grant applications to UNESCO.
- Stay updated on trends and developments in the fields of education, science, and culture and how they relate to UNESCO's work.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff members and volunteers interested in learning more about UNESCO.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, education, culture, or science.
- At least 5 years of experience working with or for UNESCO or a related organization.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of UNESCO's mandate, programs, and initiatives.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
- Fluency in English (knowledge of other languages, particularly French, is a plus).
- Willingness to travel as needed.
