The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting applications from qualified and highly motivated individuals worldwide for its Digital, AI and Innovation Internship Programme 2026. This is a home-based (remote) opportunity designed to engage talented individuals in advancing digital transformation and innovation within global development contexts.
🌍 ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:
UNDP is the development arm of the United Nations, operating in over 170 countries and territories. The organization focuses on addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges, including poverty reduction, climate change, governance, renewable energy, and gender equality.
Within UNDP, the Digital, AI and Innovation (DAI) Hub plays a central role in promoting inclusive digital transformation, data-driven governance, and innovative solutions to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
💼 INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:
The internship offers participants the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge work in digital development, artificial intelligence, and innovation. Interns will support projects across multiple thematic areas, gaining hands-on experience while collaborating with global teams.
📍 Location: Home-Based (Remote)
🕒 Duration: 3 Months (Flexible start date)
📅 Application Deadline: October 1, 2026 (Rolling review until September 30, 2026)
🔧 KEY AREAS OF ENGAGEMENT:
Selected interns may contribute to one or more of the following areas:
• Systems Transformation and Innovation
• Programme Delivery and Capacity Building
• Data Policy and Governance
• Data Analytics and Insights
• Partnerships and Strategic Communications
• Process Efficiency and Resource Management
• Product Design and AI Tools Development
• Research and Knowledge Management
Responsibilities may include research, data analysis, policy drafting, content development, stakeholder engagement, and supporting the design and implementation of digital solutions.
🎯 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Applicants must meet at least one of the following:
• Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme
• Be in the final year of an undergraduate degree
• Have graduated within the last year
Additional requirements include:
• Fluency in English
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
• Interest or experience in digital technology, AI, data, or innovation
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
💰 INTERNSHIP BENEFITS:
• Monthly stipend (amount varies based on location and conditions)

Note: Interns are responsible for personal expenses, including insurance and other related costs.
