  • THE ESTABLISHMENT STORY OF SAM LOCO EFE

    Sam Loco Efe was a prominent Nigerian actor who is remembered for his humorous acting skills and unforgettable characters. He was born in Enugu, Nigeria on December 25, 1945. Loco Efe grew up in a large family with eight siblings and was the youngest of them all. He was the son of a school principal and attended various schools in the Eastern part of Nigeria.


    Loco Efe’s love for acting began at a young age when he used to participate in school plays and dramas. He was a natural performer and had a great sense of humor, which made him stand out among his peers. His passion for acting grew stronger as he grew older, and he eventually decided to pursue it as a career.


    In 1960, Loco Efe moved to Lagos to study at the College of Arts and Science. He was determined to become a successful actor and worked hard to achieve his dreams. However, his journey was not without its challenges. He faced financial difficulties and had to do odd jobs to support himself while studying. Despite the hurdles, he never gave up on his dream of becoming an actor.


    Loco Efe’s breakthrough in the Nigerian movie industry came in the 1970s when he was cast in a popular television series called “Cockcrow at Dawn”. His performance in the series gained him recognition and opened doors to more acting opportunities. He went on to feature in several other TV shows and movies, showcasing his versatility as an actor.


    One of the most memorable roles of Loco Efe was in the movie “Langbodo”, where he played the character of a village chief. His comic timing and natural acting skills made him a fan favorite, and he soon became a household name in Nigeria.     Loco Efe’s acting career spanned over four decades, and he appeared in over 200 movies.     In honor of his contributions to the Nigerian movie industry, a film village in Benin City, Edo State, was named after him – the “Sam Loco Efe Film Institute and Village”. This is a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated his life to entertaining and inspiring people through his acting.
